Together for Tomorrow: Enabling People

Solve for Tomorrow started as a simple essay competition in 2010, but over the years it has evolved into a dynamic
platform where students collaborate to develop meaningful, future-shaping projects. Aligned with Samsung’s
mission to make technology accessible while empowering the next generation of “next-gen heroes,” the program
has spent the last 15 years equipping students with real-world experience and design thinking skills—helping them
create practical, technology-driven solutions to real challenges.
This year’s competition focuses on empowering communities through technology, featuring themes on
Environmental Sustainability through Technology, Social Change through Tech and Sport, and Solving Community
Problems with Artificial Intelligence (AI). With the support of the Department of Education, Solve for Tomorrow
2025 received over 300 entries from Grades 8–10 students in public science high schools—narrowed down to 10
finalists and, ultimately, 3 grand winners.

Roman Han, President of Samsung Philippines, shared an inspiring message about the success of this year’s Solve
for Tomorrow: “Here at Samsung, we believe our success is inseparable from the progress of the communities we
serve. Solve for Tomorrow embodies this belief by empowering the next generation of heroes in our own local
communities nationwide—equipping our young innovators with the education, tools, and opportunities they need
to create their proposals for a better future.
He added, “Guided by our vision, ‘Together for Tomorrow: Enabling People’, we have remained dedicated for 15
years in enabling future leaders as they transform their ideas into meaningful, lasting impact, and we will continue
this dedication for many years to come.”

Ms. Dove Cometa, Project Development
Officer III at the Department of Education
(DepEd), giving her welcoming remarks to the
Top 10 Finalists, emphasizing DepEd’s
continuous support for Samsung’s Solve for
Tomorrow initiative.

Mr. Jun Guevara, Head of Corporate
Marketing at Samsung Electronics
Philippines, closes the program with
congratulatory remarks to all the Grand
Champions, as well as the other Top 10
Finalists joining in at the Solve for Tomorrow
2025 Awarding Ceremony.

Lapu-Lapu City Celebrates the Arrival of Honor of Kings’ Inaugural Filipino Hero, Lapulapu

The city of Lapu-Lapu warmly welcomed the representatives of Honor of Kings (HOK) to celebrate the release of HOK's first Filipino hero, Lapulapu, on November 21, 2025, at The Outlets at MEZ2 Estate.

HOK’s Product Manager Isabella Louise Eloriaga, Level Infinite Philippines’ Senior Business Development Manager Benj Dalmacio, Level Infinite Philippines’ Country Head Tess Liu, and HOK Philippines’ Community Head Napoleon Andres Jr. came to Lapu-Lapu City for the press launch of HOK's Lapulapu hero release.

They were greeted with enthusiasm by Lapu-Lapu City Tourism Head Garry Lao and the Lapu-Lapu HOK community.

Garry Lao expressed his gratitude to HOK for adding Lapulapu to their game, noting that this move has a significant impact on honoring the city's most historic figure.

Lapulapu, a tank support hero, is heavily inspired by the national hero who resisted colonial forces and is a symbol of courage and bravery.

Lapulapu's design embraces traditional Visayan attire, highlighting patterns that symbolize the sun, waves, and scales, reflecting early Filipino beliefs and nature worship.

The hero's release is a major step in the game title's efforts to celebrate local cultures within the game.

The press launch featured performances from the Lapu-Lapu City's Tribal Band, the Lapu-Lapu Performing Arts, the Lapu-Lapu Arnis Team, and model and actor Shaun Pelayo, who played the role of Lapulapu in his performance.

Aside from the press launch, a two-day tournament—the HOK Lapu-Lapu Clash 2025—is currently ongoing with a hefty prize pool of ₱100,000. Fourteen teams are competing for a grand prize of ₱50,000. The first runner-up will take home ₱25,000. Meanwhile, the second and third runner-ups will each receive ₱12,500.

The Grand Champions of the tournament will be crowned today, November 22.

Best regards,
