Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) says, “What body pain?”

by , in

The effects of COVID-19 are felt to this day most especially economically. People lost their jobs, some needed to close shop after years of existence, others are barely surviving. Needless to say, numerous people found themselves working double to make up for income losses. Challenging as it may be, there is a silver lining as the situation proves how resiliency will get one by. This story is evident in the world more so in the Philippines.

Not only are Filipinos known to be a friendly race; Filipinos are also popularly known to be hardworking. For some reason, the more physical the job, the more effort has to be exerted. Often do we hear the term “Push lang ng push!” Push to keep going, push to finish the task, push not to quit. Pushing the body strength reflects a strong and determined attitude translating that Filipinos will go through great lengths in order to provide for themselves and their families.

With the pandemic, the roster of heroes has evolved from the National Heroes that we know, to the OFWs, and now the Delivery Riders, Service Crew, Medical Front liners, who all spend long hours to cater to the needs of many. And do they deserve the recognition! Real life Lodi! But wait! We can also here them say, “Tao lang po! Kapuy!

No doubt that the challenges faced in the past year have already caused some concerns on one’s health and bodies especially for this type of workers. Imagine traversing the roads all day to get packages from one point to another, standing countless hours to check patients here and there, pushing the body never ends. Body aches and pains are inevitable though often ignored. Inasmuch as the motivation to go on is there, these manifestations of long working hours also take a toll on the bodies to a point that ignoring it no longer becomes an option.

Fortunately, a product that can be brought to work, what can be called a “work buddy”, is available. Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax), from the same makers of Vice Ganda’s endorsement Paracetamol + Propyphenazone + Caffeine (Saridon Triple Action), is ready for the hardworking Filipinos.  There is no stopping the hustle because Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) provides upto 12 hours pain relief from body pain and arthritis vs. plain Ibuprofen and Paracetamol. This will allow long hours of non-stop work required to provide for the family.

Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) associate marketing manager Toby Manlapat shares, “The effects of the pandemic are making us work doubly harder so becomes even more important to relieve our bodies from aches and pains to go through the daily grind and allow us to be in a good condition to deliver our tasks and provide for the family. Push!

Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) is manufactured by the global pharmaceutical company Bayer. Available in leading drugstores in Luzon (Dagupan and Pampanga), Visayas (Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod), and Mindanao (Davao, Cagayan De Oro, General Santos, Zamboanga). Naproxen Sodium (Sarimax) may also be availed nationwide via Southstar Drug Online (Sarimax for Southstarand Watson’s Online (Sarimax for Watsons).

Naproxen Sodium is the generic name of Sarimax. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

GIRLS NOT BRIDES

by , in

Zonta Club of Cebu II hosted “Girls Not Brides'' webinar on June 05, 2021, supporting Senate Bill No. 1373 or the “Girls Not Brides Act” authored by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

In Zontian Atty. Mae Elaine Bathan’s introductory speech, she emphasized that the freedom of choice is among the rights of every Filipino, and does not exempt girls. Atty. Bathan further highlighted some of the public's sentiments on the Girls not Brides Bill showing the lack of awareness on this subject.

“Child Marriage is a form of abuse. Child Marriage is criminal and should never have a place in our society,” Sen. Hontiveros strongly said in the forum.

UNICEF stated that ten million child marriages may occur before the end of the decade. The Philippines was ranked 12th in the world with the prevalence of child marriage in the same organization.

Sen. Hontiveros said Child Early and Forced Marriages is a tragic reality to which girls are subjected largely due to economic circumstances, cultural expectations, and outdated beliefs and norms.

“There are girls who are forced to enter child marriages because of the baseless conception that the measure of a woman, of a girl, is determined only by being a wife, a mother, a homemaker,” Sen. Hontiveros states.

Adding that Filipino society would not thrive if people would not accept respecting the life and dignity of women and children.

She concluded her speech with an appeal to all advocates with “Let us help each other help our children. Let us ensure that our girls simply be children, children who can still dream, hope, and enjoy the bright future that awaits them,”

As part of the vision of Zonta Club of Cebu II to educate every citizen of the importance of this bill, President Cristina “Petite” Garcia pledged to remain supportive of the campaign to end child marriages, and emphasized that “social change cannot succeed without community engagement”.

Although the Philippines is a signatory to international laws concerning child brides, the legislation that the country has, lacks in protecting these girls. The Girls Not Brides Act, if passed into a law, will be able to provide the necessary protection. Sen. Hontiveros remains hopeful that the bill will be passed in the 18th Congress.

In attendance were members of Zonta Clubs of Cebu I, Iloilo, NCR, Davao, Gensan, Bacolod, and CDO. Other prominent guests include members of Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Cebu  CityChapter, LGUs represented by Mandaue City Councilor Hon. Cynthia Remedio and Cebu City Councilor Hon. Nina Mabatid, police officers, and representatives of  Mandaue Local Office of Muslim Affairs.

Zonta Club of Cebu II is a member club of Zonta International, leading advocacy efforts to improve the lives of women by promoting strategies to eradicate violence against women and children. (Merry Melle Aguilar and Nicole Ashlyn Torrepalma, St. Theresa’s College of Cebu - Media Communication students)

Childlink Learning Center and High School to mark its 25th anniversary in 2022

by , in

Childlink Learning Center and High School gets ready to have activities in the incoming school year to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2022.

The school’s anniversary theme is Linkers: Relevant, Responsive, Resilient.

“For two successive school years starting this July 2021, we will be retaining the same theme until the school year 2022 which is “to stay relevant and to continue to be responsive and be resilient” despite the changes and challenges brought about by the pandemic,” says Childlink founder and school directress Maria Theresa Tio.

According to Ms. Tio, the school has undertaken efforts to prepare their students for the transition to online learning.

Childlink, in coordination with parents and guardians, continue to create activities in order for the students to have social interaction with their classmates and teachers.

Despite the change in learning platform, the school has continued to hold the usual activities for the just-concluded school year. One example is the holding of Heartstrings: A Celebration of Music featuring the choir performance, ukulele, guitar, and rondalla performances of the students.

As the school is on its way to celebrate its silver anniversary in July 2022, it recently got a recognition from the Character.org , an organization devoted to fostering character development in our schools and communities for this month of June.  The international virtual recognition that Childlink has received will be done this October 2021.

Character.org cites Childlink as among those with 2021 Promising Practice.

"We are extremely proud to recognize the schools and organizations that have developed and implemented a Promising Practice” said Dr. Arthur Schwartz, President of Character.org. “Each of these programs and initiatives have demonstrated significant impact and strongly align with the principles that help schools and organizations cultivate a culture of character.” This year’s character development practices and initiatives included peer mentoring, service-learning, and conflict resolution approaches. Many of the Promising Practices also involve parents and the local community. Character.org will honor each 2021 Promising Practice recipient (schools and organizations) at its National Forum to be held October 20-22, 2021

Childlink has always provided quality education through face to face classes and close supervision by teachers and teachers’ aide before the pandemic and continuous to do so during this crisis.

But as a School of Character, the school not only focuses on academic excellence, it also places much emphasis on character development, Ms Tio explains.

“We continuously upgrade our curriculum so students will find learning  relevant to real life situations,” Ms. Tio pointed out.

By doing this, Childlink enables the Linkers to apply what they learned in school and put these into action so they can be responsive to the community, she added.

To accomplish this goal, the school has come up with the Childlink Creed to serve as a guide for the Childlink Student who is also called a Linker.

According to the Childlink Creed, a Linker is caring, honest, industrious, loving dynamic, loyal, interactive, nature-lover and keen.

Linkers will stand out among their peers for being caring and productive individuals,  who are loyal to family, school and country, Ms. Tio explained.

As part of its upcoming 25th anniversary, Childlink will continue its advocacies such as creating awareness for cyberbullying, gender equality and child marriage.

“We will continue the  collaboration we have with schools, abroad and within our country. These collaborations are done for the purpose of developing students to become solutionaries to the issues that are present in each of the communities,” she added.

Childlink is now open for admission for school year 2021-2022. Enrolment period for Elementary Students is from June 17 to June 24. On the other hand, high school enrolment is between June 9 to June 16, 2021. For preschool, the enrolment is between June 25 and July 3. Parents can choose either the Online Learning Program or the Home School Program.

Summer classes are also available and start on June 7, 2021. These include Reading Classes for Preschool to Grade 3; English Classes for foreign students for all grade levels and Reinforcement classes on English, Civics, Filipino Math, Mother Tongue and Science. The school also offers one-on-one online reading tutorials.

We will triumph with the help of God who will trample down all our foes.(Psalm 108:14)

CEBU GOES PURPLE! Converge officially enters Visayas

CEBU GOES PURPLE! Converge officially enters Visayas, mounts aggressive expansion in key cities

Mandaue City, CEBU, 07 June 2021 - Leading fiber internet services provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has officially launched its highi-speed fiber broadband service in Visayas, marking its entry with the grand opening of its regional corporate office and the ceremonial launch of its Mandaue business center.

In the next few weeks, Converge is also set to open its business center in Cebu City, as well as begin serving Talisay, Cordova, and Lapu-Lapu City in one of the most developed provinces in the country.

“We’ve already hit the ground running when we had our soft launch in Cebu last November. Considering that we’ve only been operating in Mandaue and Cebu cities on a limited basis, we’ve already signed on thousands of subscribers and established partnerships with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and Enterprise clients,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy.

“This strong subscriber take-up is promising, and we expect a groundswell in subscriptions as we target commercial operations in the other areas in the next two months,” added Converge President and Co-Founder Grace Uy.

In a full-day event on Monday, the country’s only pure end-to-end fiber broadband provider heralded its entry in the Visayas with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its first business center in the region, followed by the opening of its regional corporate office, at the Oakridge IT Center Tower 2, Oakridge Business Park in bustling Mandaue City.

The official launch ceremony was graced by the province’s major business groups including the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry. .

“This is all part of the broader ‘Go National’ strategy which is essentially our nationwide expansion plan. With Converge’s fiber optic cables having already landed in Cebu last April, and with three landing points in the island - in San Remigio, Bogo, and Naga - our domestic fiber backbone is firmed up and ready to take on the pent-up demand for fiber connection in central Philippines,” said Converge Chief Operations Officer Jesus C. Romero.

Converge can now offer innovative products such as the FiberX Time of Day plans to the Visayas market. The Time of Day plans offer speed boosts ranging from 70mbps to 800 Mbps at pre-set times of the day depending on the preference of the customer. At such price points, Converge is offering the best value for money broadband service in the market, he added.

Since Converge’s soft launch in Cebu last November, it has already covered more than 440,000 households, spanning 48 cities and municipalities, and more than a thousand barangays. For 2021, it is targeting to deploy at least 250,000 fiber ports in Visayas.

In support of Converge’s debut in Visayas, the grand launch on Monday was attended by known leaders in Cebu’s local government and business circles including Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Mandaue City Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Steven Yu, and Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Felix Taguiam.

Converge splashed the city with FiberX purple activities including a set-up of its business center in wheels, roving billboards, and sales blitzes featuring its mascot Conrad.
