CCCI bridges gap between business and BFP

Over 150 building maintenance and safety officers, electrical engineers, and business leaders converged for the much-awaited forum on the Fire Code of the Philippines: Business Compliance with the 2019 RA 9514 - Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR), on February 13 (Monday) at the Golden Prince Hotel and Suites.

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the forum as an avenue to clarify the key features of the amended implementing rules and regulations of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and for the business community to speak and air out concerns and hope to achieve a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Code. The forum also underscored that compliance with fire and safety protocols is beyond a legal obligation and a crucial aspect in securing a Fire Safety Inspection Certificate (FSIC) as a prerequisite in obtaining a business permit for every business enterprise.

Leading the discussion was CINSP Ethel C. Margaha, Chief of the Fire Safety and Enforcement Division of the Bureau of Fire Protection, who was joined by representatives from various fire stations from Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Cebu City, and Talisay City. The Philippine Integrated Fire Protection Organization (PIFPO) represented by Chapter President Engr. Allan Alagos presented his expertise in operating and maintaining fire protection systems in the region.

Responding to several experiential issues  raised, CINSP Margaha also encouraged business leaders to be conscientious in their interpretation of the RA 9514 as she welcomes consultations, discussions and clarifications with the Bureau. It was agreed that both CCCI and BFP will work together to foster a supportive and safe environment for businesses to grow, thrive and prosper.

For more information, one may call CCCI at 232-1421 or email info@cebuchamber.org.

Best regards,

PAREF Springdale’s TITANS RUN 2023 set on March 12 at Mandani Bay

by , in

PAREF Springdale’s TITANS RUN 2023 set on March 12 at Mandani Bay

Spend an evening of enjoyment with family and friends at the TITANS RUN 2023: Glow in the Dark set on the evening of March 12, 2023 at the Mandani Bay, Mandaue City.

The fun run, which is organized by the PAREF Springdale School in partnership with the Student Body Organization (SBO) and the parents of Grade 3 pupils, is open to the public.

Enzo Nathan Go, President of PAREF Springdale SBO, said the TITANs RUN 2023 aims to promote family bonding.

“What we’re trying to sell to the general public and to our own community is a fun and enjoyable experience through amenities like glow-in-the-dark accessories for a festive and lively event held at night,” Go said.

According to Go, the inspiration for the TITANS RUN 2023: Glow in the Dark came from previous run when they had festival colors. The theme Glow in the Dark makes the fun run, having it at night makes it more memorable.

“It’s a family event because Springdale by its branding centers around families. So, everything we do, the events that we have, it focuses on family bonding. This is a family run where students can invite their friends and their families,” said Anthony Guarde, adviser of the PAREF SBO. This is the fourth run since 2019 and with the first glow-in-the-dark theme.

Johann Tan, vice president of  Springdale SBO, explained that doing the fun run at night also helps to cater to families since the kids no longer need to wake up early at 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. to be able to join the event. This also enables parents to run with their children and enjoy the merchandise and the entertainment.

According to Go, the TITANS RUN 2023 will have five categories – 1K, 3K, 3K for Dad and Son (for 12 years and below), 5K and 10K. The event is open to the public, with kids as young as five or six and people aged 60. The gun start will be held every 15 minutes starting at 6:30 p.m. for the 10 K up to 7 p.m. for the 1K.

The registration fees are P600 for the 1K and 3K; P1,100 for the 3K Dad and Son; P650 for the 5K; and P700 for the 10K run, Go said.

All runners will get a dri-fit race shirt, one glow accessory, race bib and finishers medal. Runners may also bring their own accessories such glow sticks, wristbands and blinking lights. They could also buy some at the kiosks during the fun event.

The 1K run is ideal for children and will be held only at the Mandani Bay compound. The route of other races will be conducted along F.E. Zuellig Ave., Mandaue City, which will be closed to traffic during the duration of the fun run. There will be kiosks and snacks available for those who would like to eat after the event.

The proceeds will be used for school development projects, including Father’s Day  will also go to the Student Body Organization’s advocacies, including proposed collaboration with the student councils of other schools.

They are targeting around 2,500 participants. Those interested may register at bit.ly/TitansRun2023. For concerns or clarifications on the run, you may email titansrun2023@gmail.com or contact us at 0915 419 0049.

MILO® energizes kids nationwide to go from couch to court with MILO® Active Pilipinas launch

MILO energizes kids nationwide to go from couch to court with

MILO Active Pilipinas launch

After years of restrictions and limitations, kids nationwide will now have access to MILO® sports

programs to jumpstart their Champion journeys.

For 59 years, leading breakfast drink kids love

MILO® Philippines has been nourishing Filipino kids with energy-giving nutrients and the well-

loved chocomaltee taste that help them live an active lifestyle. Because with a sports-driven

active lifestyle, kids not only reap physical benefits but take lifelong learnings and skills too.

They take home new values such as perseverance, discipline, and grit which sets them up for

success in all aspects of life.

However, as the country faced pandemic-related restrictions in the past few years, the

opportunities for physical activity were also restricted or limited; leaving kids at home and glued

to their couches. As steps turned into screen time and physical activity moved online, 84% of

Filipino adolescents were shown to be insufficiently active doing less than 60 minutes of

moderate to vigorous physical activity per day.

Bringing out the champion in the Filipino youth through the MILO Sports Programs

Because MILO® believes in the power of sports and an active lifestyle, the brand challenged

Filipino kids from couch to court with the launch of MILO® Active Pilipinas, inviting kids

nationwide to live an active lifestyle whether at home or in school. All year-long, kids will have

access to MILO® sports programs that were designed to help them unlock the champion within

● MILO® Sports Clinics - Now in its 38th year, the annual MILO Sports Clinics will

continue to teach kids the basics of sports like basketball, taekwondo, swimming, and

tennis, among others while instilling discipline, confidence, and teamwork.

● MILO® Marathon - After 3 years on halt, the biggest running event in the

country is set to return this March 2023. This national event brings together

people to get back into sports and help build tomorrow’s champions.

● MILO® Champ Camp - Co-created with the Department of Education (DepEd), the

MILO Champ Camp is a nationwide school tour that teaches students the basics of

sports without disrupting their classes, since parents also play a role as we teach them

proper nutrition. This is one of the widespread efforts to help improve the physical

literacy of kids because we believe that active kids are better learners.

● MILO® Home Court - A digital portal launched in partnership with the Philippine

Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) during the

pandemic, MILO Home Court will continue to help kids pursue sports even at home by

providing video tutorials and online sports classes.

● MILO® Barangay Liga - The much-awaited grassroots basketball tournament will

launch in March this year, inviting more than future champions from barangays

nationwide to work with their teams in showcasing their skills on the court. Participating

moms from the 2022 Barangay Liga share how it helps their kids lessen screen time to

make them more active and healthy while learning values such as discipline and social

skills.

“Now, more than ever, we see the importance of energizing kids and bringing back active

lifestyles through the variety of MILO sports programs that will be made available nationwide.

Through these opportunities, we aim to build the champions of tomorrow and instill values

learned through sports for future success in life,” said Carlo Sampan, Head of MILO Sports.

MILO® Active Pilipinas will officially launch on January 28 through a live-streamed event on the

official MILO Facebook page. Stay tuned on January 28 (Saturday) from 3-5 PM for the full

rundown of the programs.

Start your Champion journey through MILO Active Pilipinas and share your experience on social

media with the hashtag #MILOActivePilipinas
